Administrative Information

Four photographs were first cataloged into a separate Hertzler Photograph collection in 1977 (Accession #2980, April 13, 1077 / mjz).  The rest of the photographs were added to this collection when they were separated from the personal papers of Silas Hertzler (found under Hist. Mss. 1-197) when the papers were organized in 1981.  (Accession #3661, 2 Green Boxes, July 21, 1982 / blk).

The photographs (along with the personal papers) had been deposited into the archives by Silas Hertzler, Goshen, Indiana, from 1959-1973 (Eight accessions #932, 1959 through to #2561, December 1973 / slk), and by John M. Hertzler, Goshen, Indiana, and Charlotte Hertzler Croyle, children of Silas Hertzler, in 1980 (Accession #3658, 5 Large Boxes, June 28, 1982 / jll)

An inventory of these photographs was prepared by Susanna Stoltzfus, Goshen, Indiana, in 2004.  Stoltzfus also selected over 60 Middle East photographs, and scanned them into the computer.
