Isaac Zuercher (? - ) Collection
(Essays, 1988)
(One Folder)
Introduction
Isaac Zuercher, a well-known Mennonite minister and
historian from Bern, Switzerland, was long-time editor of
the Swiss Mennonite annual historical publication,
Informations-Bl_tter (in 1990, renamed: Mennonitica
Helvetica).
The two essays that comprise this collection had been
submitted for Volume Five of the Mennonite Encyclopedia, but
were not used. Johann Piscator (1546-1625) was a well-known
Bible translator. The Probier-Stein (written in 1696), by
Georg Thormann, is a polemic against Anabaptism (Zuercher's
essay, seen as a complementation to Harold S. Bender,
"Probier-Stein," ME, IV, 220-21).
