One folder was deposited into the Archives by
Goshen, Indiana, in 1958. The rest of the papers were deposited by
David A. and Wilma Shank, Sturgis, Michigan, in 2002. See also some
photographs cataloged under Hist. Mss. 4-329 SC, including pictures of
Daniel Kauffman, J. W. Shank, Noah Byers and Florence Cooprider Friesen.
In general, these personal papers reflect the
India, 1915-19; and the work of Crissie (Yoder) Shank as literature
secretary for Women’s Missionary Society. Papers also reflect their
Mennonite experience in the 20th century, as documented in
the circle letter of correspondence with siblings serving as
missionaries in the Argentina Chaco (Josephus W. Shank), and in Ozark,
Missouri (John R. Shank); and in Tanganyika and India (Lillie Shenk
Kaufman) and siblings serving the church (Mrs. Daniel Kauffman,
Scottdale, Pa). Some older materials include correspondence with
evangelist John S. Coffman, and with Lewis H. & Mary (Wenger)
Shank, the parents of Charles Shank.
