Biographical Sketch
1984-88 Voluntary service worker under Mennonite
Central Committee at Olongapo City, Philippines, near where the U.S. A.
Subic Naval Base is located. The assignment was to learn to know
the many “hospitality women” (prostitutes) and determine if there
were ways that MCC could be helpful to bring healing into their
lives.
Helped organize the Buklod Center, a center for
prostituted women that was founded by Mennonite Central Committee, by
women in the bars, by women who were part of the Philippine women’s
movement, and by the National Council of Churches in the Philippines
(NCCP).
