Biographical Sketch
Reverend Christian J. Kurtz,
Elverson, Pennsylvania, was a longtime conference historian for the
Atlantic Coast Mennonite Conference. His wife is Elsie (Stoltzfus)
Kurtz. Kurtz was interested in the Conestoga Mennonite Church at
Morgantown, PA, and with Bishop "Tennessee" John Stoltzfus at Concord
Mennonite Church, Concord, Tennessee.
Archival material has been arranged
chronologically. Most of it is photocopied materials. Originals are
either with C.J. Kurtz or Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society. For
photographs of C.J. and Elsie Kurtz, and of the John Stoltzfus
memorial, see Hist. Mss. 4-355 SC.

the American flag, and participation in the war effort.
Includes Bishop John S. Mast's position on the war effort,
as well as responses to his position from the local ministers
at Morgantown, Pennsylvania. Refers to an Amish Church,
to Amish Mennonites, and to a Reverend H.H. Kurtz, who
may be from the Conestoga Mennonite Church, Morgantown,
Pennsylvania.
