Mennonite Bishop in Missouri,
minister at Palmyra, member of Board of Education and other committees,
evangelist.
Inventory
Box 1 - Correspondence 1915-1943
His correspondence reflects his
duties and activities as a bishop in Missouri and in conference
affairs. The correspondence deals mainly with church problems at
various places as well as Kreider's concern with the growing liberal
tendencies of the Mennonite Church especially at her schools, Goshen
and Hesston. Most of this concern focuses itself on the dress question
especially the hat/bonnet issue. There are also several interesting
chivareeing and serenading. Correspondents include Daniel Kauffman,
Simon Gingerich, J. B. Smith, D. H. Bender, J. A. Heatwole, C. L.
Ressler, P. J. Blosser, D. G. Lapp (mainly concerning debts), J. B.
Brunk, Maurice Yoder, S. C. Yoder, Milo Kauffman, and others. There is
a good deal of correspondence in 1925 and 1926 with some Tuleta, Texas
members - Rhoda Yoder, Elva Unzicker, P. Schrock.
