Introduction
This collection centers around the
relief work of Levi C. Hartzler (1909- ), who served in Spain,
1937-1939, first under the American Friends Service Committee and then
under the Mennonite Relief Committee. Hartzler's field records consist
of journals , reports, writings, correspondence, and various other
printed materials located here. Following his work in Spain, Hartzler
served as an English instructor and Dean of Men at Goshen College.
Hartzler retells his Spain experience in a 1992 manuscript, also
included here.
