Scope and Content

        This collection contains the papers of Ida Brubacker-Bauman, one of the first Mennonites to take up nursing.

        The collection consists of news clippings, correspondence, and medical reports spanning the years from 1916 to 1981. The main focus of the collection is the medical profession, with abundant clippings and reports on Nursing, Medicine, and Public Health.

Biographical Sketch

        da was born in Ontario, Canada, and also served as a registered nurse in various parts of the United States. She married a widower, Enoch Bauman, and adopted the children of his pervious marriage.

Administrative Information

        The collection was deposited by Margaret Ashley and Elaine Brubacker, daughters of Ida’s brother Stanley. Stanley Burbacker was a lay leader in the Ontario Mennonite conference, and his materials are housed at the Mennonite Archives at Conrad Grebel College, Waterloo, Ontario.
