Biographical Sketch

Eli J. Bontrager was an Amish minister and bishop. He was born near Shipshewana, IN., moved to North Dakota in 1895 and then to Wisconsin. In 1916 he returned to Indiana. He served as editor of the Herold der Wahrheit and was active in helping CO's during the first and second World Wars. He was chosen as the first representative of the Old Order Amish with MCC.
