Gladstone 1951
Cleveland, Ohio.
The work at Gladstone was begun through a summer Bible school conducted by summer voluntary service members of MRSC. The Bible school at Gladstone was planned by Tillie Yoder Nauraine. Vern Miller was the first minister, sent by the Plainview Church, Aurora, Ohio, and MBMC. The Plainview Church provided additional teachers. Elmer Stoltzfus served as bishop. In October 1956 Miller left and took charge of the work at Lee Heights. Gerald Hughes served as minister from October 1956 to August 1959. The Gladstone area was razed as part of the Federal Governments Urban Renewal Program. On Sept. 1, 1959, Gerald Hughes and 30 members of the Gladstone Church placed their membership in the Lee Heights Church. In 1963 about a dozen of the former members at Gladstone who had moved northeast placed their membership with the newly formed University-Euclid Church (1963). See Lee Heights and University-Euclid.
