Dillonvale 1942
Dillonvale, Ohio.
Dillonvale Mission was started in September 1942 following a series of tent meetings sponsored by the Kidron congregation, Kidron, Ohio. Reuben Hofstetter served as bishop, and Allen Bixler as the first minister for two years. Bixler drove to Dillonvalle every Sunday with a earful of workers. Orrie D. Yoder of Souderton, Pa., served as minister for a number of years. The last ordained resident minister was Richard Hostetler. Carl Gerber was lay leader until the mission closed. It became apparent that the church had fulfilled its call at Dillonvale: the coal mines were closing down, people began to move away in search of work, the membership became unstable, and the building used for the services was not suitable. The work closed on Dec. 31, 1957. Some of the members transferred their membership to other churches in Dillonvale.
