6. Organized by members of the Mummasburg congregation of the Lancaster Conference Bethel Church joined the Ohio and Eastern Conference in 1947. Two families have gone as missionaries, Charles Shenks to Japan and Glenn Musselmans to Brazil.

dins District in seceding from the Ohio Mennonite Conference in 1872. In 1880 Martin Leatherman was ordained for the small group. In 1893 a church building was erected, called Bethel. Ministers in order of service: Martin Leatherman, William Kindig, Jonas Kreider, Norman Lind, Samuel Rohrer, Robert Kreider, James Steiner, Aden J. Yoder. Deacons: Jacob Kreider, H. R. 6. Started as the result of the conversion of twelve Amish Mennonite young people during evangelistic meetings held by John F. Funk and D. J. Johns at the South Union Church. The group was steadfast in their desire to unite with the Mennonite Church rather than the Amish Mennonite Church. They were baptized by Bishop John M. Shenk in the year 1889, organized as a congregation in 1895, and became a member of the Ohio Mennonite Conference.
