 The John Horsch Mennonite History Essay Contest
John Horsch was born in Germany in 1867, and died in 1941 at Scottdale, Pa. He was an editor, writer and historian, whose work helped to create an interest in Anabaptist history among North American Mennonites. Levels Class I - Graduate School & Seminary
Class II - College & University
Class III - High School Prizes First-$100, Second-$75, Third-$50 All entrants receive a one-year subscription to the Mennonite Historical Bulletin and first place winners receive one year of the Mennonite Quarterly Review.

Regulations (The Fine Print)
1. All papers should treat a subject or theme related to Anabaptist or Mennonite history. This may include congregational and institutional histories, biographies, literature, and theological, cultural and social movements among Mennonites and related groups. It is expected that the papers will do more than summarize existing written materials on the subject, and that a variety of sources will be used in the essay.
2. Papers must be typed with the following information on the last page of the essay: writer's name, mailing address, e-mail address, school, and class in which the paper is entered. Also send an electronic copy by disk, CD or e-mail (archives@goshen.edu). Include a photograph of yourself (electronic or hard copy).
3. All papers become property of the Mennonite Church USA Historical Committee, Goshen, Indiana. By submitting the paper to this contest, the author grants permission to the Historical Committee to publish the essay in whole or in part on its website. Unless specified otherwise by the author at the time of submission, the author also grants the Historical Committee permission to make copies of the essay in whole or in part for individuals, and/or deposit in other archives and libraries.
4. Deadline: June 15.
