Information
The records consist of
correspondence, minutes, programs, notes, publicity, newspaper
clippings and
photographs of the local arrangements committee of Mission
'72 that took place a Harrisonburg,
Virginia,
June 30-July 2,
1972. It's theme was "Being Built
Together" and featured speakers like Edward Stoltzfus, John W. Miller,
Howard J. Zehr, George R. Brunk, and Lee Lowery. Esther
Augsburger and Dorothy Shank planned
the Women's Pragyer Breakfast. Gerald
Hughes lead the music, Truman Brunk was experience (worship?) leader,
Elton
Nussbaum was youth coordinator and Howard J. Zehr was overall
coordinator. A similar Mission '72 program
then also took
place at Hesston, Kansas, July 7-9, 1972.
A similar conference called Mission '71 had taken place July 1-4, 1971, at Eureka College,
Eureka, Illinois. And a Mission '70 had taken place July 1-7,
1970, at Christopher Dock Mennonite
School,
Lansdale,
Pennsylvania. All of these conferences were sponsored by
the Mennonite Board of Missions.
