Introduction

 

            These records were transferred to the Archives by Lynn Amstutz, secretary of the Frontier Village Foundation, Denver, Colorado, in 1987.

 

Historical Sketch

 

            Started in 1960 by Jess Kauffman and four boys, it grew to involve 136 boys by 1968.  Boys generally remained at the facility from 2 months to 2 years.  The facility closed in 1977.  The History of Frontier Boys Village was written by Harlan D. Unrau, March 1985.
