The Junta Ejecutiva Latinoamericana de Audiciones Menonitas (JELAM) was established in 1972 as an inter-Mennonite Latin-American organization which promoted and was responsible for Mennonite broadcasting in Latin America. Some of these radio programs were earlier under the umbrella of Mennonite Broadcasts. The English name of JELAM is Latin-American Executive Board for Mennonite Broadcasts.

     The Spanish ministries included:

Follow up literature, and Personal contacts
Religious film service to churches

JELAM was officially formed to make Spanish broadcasts and literature more responsive to the needs of local (national) churches. It was came into being as a result of consultations between Mennonite mission boards, their respective conferences in Latin America, and Mennonite Broadcasts.

The inter-Mennonite board was made up of the following board members and conferences in circa 1973:

Colombia, Jaime Caro and Victor Vargas

Puerto Rico, Armando Hernandez and Sergio Rosario
United States, Juan Ventura and Lupe De Leon
Uruguay, Milka Rindzinski

JELAM's headquarters were in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. Amando Hernandez was the first president of JAALAM and JELAM, 1971-73, until he was hired by JELAM and became its Executive Secretary in January 1973. Hernandez, who grew up in Colombia, moved to Puerto Rico in 1973. Dan Nuesch was elected president of JELAM in fall 1973. JELAM is listed in the Mennonite Yearbook in 1974, and is last listed in 1984.
