            This section includes several series of early files, 1900-1950, relating to MBM personnel which pre-date the files in the IV-12-1 section, which date from 1949-1984.

2.2  Personnel Files, Missionary Training and Voluntary Service, 1944-1960
 
            The early correspondence in these files, 1944-50, include applications to attend Missionary Training Conferences conducted by Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities at places like Eureka, Illinois, Hesston, Kansas, and Goshen, Indiana.
 
            Most of the materials date from 1950-60, and includes correspondence to and from prospective personnel wanting to work under the voluntary service program, and the alternative service program (I-W).  Voluntary Service was unpaid, while Alternative Service (I-W) was paid by institution where person was working, and then the worker had to provide for oneself.  Some personnel were under Mennonite Service Units, others under Mennonite Relief Committee, and others transferred to Mennonite Central Committee.    Files also includes some application forms.
 
            Mission personnel staff during this time period included J. D. Graber, Dorsa J. Mishler, Levi Hartzler, Boyd Nelson, Ray Horst and Joyce Bratton.  Their titles varied from Secretary, to Secretary for Service and Relief, Personnel Director for Service and Relief, and Personnel Secretary.
 
            Files are arranged alphabetically, but are not listed by individual names.

2.3 Personnel Files, Mennonite Central Committee, 1935-65
 
            Another main set of files are referrals to and approval of personnel from the (Old) Mennonite Church serving under Mennonite Central Committee, 1935-65.  Files also includes some application forms.
            Files arranged chronologically under names of MCC staff persons handling the personnel files.
